Trauma Healing Session at SAPOF’s Safe Home

Happy faces after the session

At SAPOF’s Safe Home, we provide a nurturing environment for children from less privileged backgrounds, including orphans and vulnerable children. Our goal is to offer a safe haven where they can feel protected, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Recently, our team led a trauma healing session with the children, incorporating art therapy, grounding exercises, and movement activities. These activities were designed to help the children process their emotions and experiences, and develop coping strategies to manage their trauma.

Before starting the session, we took the time to reassure the children that they had nothing to fear, emphasizing that our goal was to create a safe space for them to express themselves and build trust. This approach helped the children feel comfortable and confident, enabling them to fully engage with the activities.

The session was a valuable opportunity for the children to express themselves and work through their challenges in a supportive environment. We are proud of the resilience and strength shown by the children, and we are committed to continuing our work in providing trauma healing and support services to those who need it most.

At SAPOF’s Safe Home, we believe that every child deserves a chance to heal, grow, and thrive. We are dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment that allows our children to reach their full potential, despite the challenges they may have faced.

Empowering Young Minds: SAPOF’s Youth Dialogue at Mpapa Primary School

On 15th February, SAPOF organized a youth dialogue for youths at Mpapa Primary School, Soche Blantyre.

The main agenda of the meeting was to educate the students on what it means to be a youth and their significant role in the community. The facilitators from SAPOF began by asking the students to define who a youth is. The responses were varied, but one thing was clear: the students were eager to learn.

The students listened intently as the facilitators discussed the various roles that youth play in the community. They learned about the importance of volunteering, leadership, and innovation. They also discovered how youth can contribute to addressing social issues, such as poverty, education, and healthcare.

One of the students, Yankho Sitenala, shared her thoughts on what she learned: “I never knew that being a youth meant I had the power to make a difference. I want to start volunteering at a local orphanage and help make a change.”

Another student, Comfort Mangoni, exclaimed: “I’m excited to share what I learned with my friends and family. We can work together to create positive change in our community.”

The youth dialogue at Mpapa Primary School was a resounding success. The students left with newfound knowledge, inspiration, and a sense of purpose. SAPOF’s efforts had empowered them to become active contributors to their community, and they were eager to make their mark.
